Imagine starting your adventure with our team eagerly awaiting your arrival at Yopal Airport in Casanare. From there, embark on a scenic two-hour drive along a paved road to the entrance of the reserve. But the real magic begins as we switch to an unpaved road for another two-hour journey through the breathtaking savanna. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a delicious lunch inspired by local llanero cuisine, setting the tone for an authentic experience.

After lunch, we’ll kick off with a warm welcome talk and a brief tour of the charming main house, where you’ll get settled into your cozy room. Our first adventure begins with a tranquil walk around the lagoon, offering stunning views of the diverse flora and fauna. As the day winds down, saddle up for an enchanting horseback ride across the vast savanna near the main house. Witness the beauty of the estuaries and the endless horizon, a perfect prelude to the adventures that await. In the evening, indulge in an exquisite dinner featuring authentic local dishes, steeped in centuries of llanero culinary tradition.

Day 2Wildlife Safaris

Start your morning with a delightful breakfast overlooking the lagoon, where you can quietly observe deer, herons, and capybaras. After breakfast, embark on our first safari adventure. In the summer, enjoy an exhilarating three-hour journey by car, while in winter, amidst the flooded savannas, we’ll traverse by horseback, offering a unique and captivating spectacle of nature.

Return to the lodge for a relaxing lunch and some leisure time. In the afternoon, join us for a two-hour hiking expedition around the caño, where you’ll discover the rich local flora and fauna.

As evening approaches, we’ll gather to witness the sunset over the main lagoon, accompanied by enchanting stories from a llanero. The night will culminate with a dinner around a crackling bonfire, serenaded by authentic llanera music. Join us for an unforgettable day immersed in the vibrant rhythms of the llanos.

Day 3Adventure & Culture

We start the day with an early breakfast, gearing up for our first cultural immersion experience. Dive into the daily routines of llanero life firsthand, from cattle ranching to other traditional activities alongside local llaneros—an authentic and unforgettable adventure. By midday, gather for an authentic llanero lunch featuring «carne a la llanera.» In the afternoon, embark on a two-hour hiking trail around the lodge, offering abundant wildlife and flora sightings, perfect for capturing stunning photographs. As the day winds down, enjoy a breathtaking sunset horseback ride across the plains of the Llanos—a unique and unforgettable memory. In the evening, indulge in a delicious dinner at the lodge.

Day 4Cultural inmersion

Start your day with a delightful breakfast, followed by our second cultural immersion experience, «Trabajos del Llano,» where you’ll accompany local llaneros in their authentic daily activities and learn from their expertise. By midday, we’ll gather for a leisurely lunch at the lodge. The afternoon is yours to relax, take a swim in the pool, and anticipate the magical sunset over the Llanos. In the evening, we’ll come together for a farewell dinner. This day promises a blend of cultural enrichment, relaxation, and natural beauty, making it a perfect conclusion to our journey through Casanare’s eastern plains.

Day 5Return to Yopal

We’ll begin the day with an early breakfast. Afterward, we’ll depart for Yopal, where you’ll catch your return flight to Villavicencio or Bogotá.

How do I reach the hato or reserve during different seasons?

During the summer (December to March), access to the hato is easier and can be reached by car. However, during the winter (April to November), the primary access is by private plane from Yopal, just a 30-minute flight away. For the more adventurous, there’s also the option to travel by horseback, crossing the hato’s savannah on a thrilling 4-hour journey.

What should I pack for the trip?

We recommend packing comfortable clothing, sturdy hiking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, binoculars for birdwatching, a camera, swimwear, and a personal towel. Avoid bringing a wheeled suitcase; a backpack is more convenient, and within it, carry a smaller bag or fanny pack for essentials during hikes

Can I customize my itinerary?

Yes, our all-inclusive plans can be tailored to meet your specific needs and interests. Please discuss any customization requests with us in advance.

Are there any age restrictions for this trip?

There are no strict age restrictions; however, guests should be able to participate in physical activities such as hiking and boat rides..

Do I need any vaccinations for this trip?

Yes, it is recommended to have up-to-date vaccinations for yellow fever and malaria, as you will be traveling to tropical regions.

Is there medical assistance available?

While we do not have a full-time medical staff on-site, our staff is trained in basic first aid, and we have emergency procedures in place. The nearest medical facility is in Inírida.

What are the payment policies?

Clients can reserve with a 40% deposit and have until 20 days before the travel date to complete the total balance. If flights are included in the package, the client must pay 100% of the flight cost at the time of booking. If the booking is made within 18 days of the travel date, full payment is required.
